Though I may be a couple days late to the 2024 reflections, I wanted to take a moment to look back on my artistic journey in 2024!
2024 was full to the brim with theatre magic that I am endlessly grateful to have had the opportunity to be part of. Here are the highlights!
Role Call!
In February, I had the honor of playing Hester Swane in By the Bog of Cats at Wright State University. This show challenged me and fueled me, and still inspires me almost a year later.
In April, I appeared as Ginny in 5 Lesbians Eating a Quiche with Magnolia Theatre Company. There is a special kind of magic to be found in a rehearsal room comprised entirely of women, and I couldn’t have asked for a better environment to explore this story of sisterhood and absurdity.
I spent my summer of ’24 with Wisconsin Shakespeare Festival, and it was a busy two months! I appeared as Viola in Twelfth Night, was the understudy for Juliet in Romeo and Juliet, performed a staged reading workshop of The Secret Muse, by Mark Evan Chimsky, and served as an Artist Mentor for their youth program, Merely Players.
It was a dream come true to work on two of my particular artistic passions (Shakespeare and new works) in the same summer, while also flexing my teaching muscles!
During the summer, I also worked on an audio production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, as Titania and Hippolyta. This was my first time doing a voice acting project of this length, and I look forward to exploring voice acting and voice over more in the new year!
Back at Wright State in the fall, I appeared in Our Town as Rebecca Gibbs and Brandi in Horse Girls. It was so much fun to reconnect with my inner pre-teen during my first senior semester!
Finally, the end of 2024 was the start of my journey with Leonato, who I have the honor of playing in Much Ado About Nothing at Wright State University in February, 2025. With the help of my favorite memorization partner, Gonza, I look forward to continuing my prep!
But wait, there’s more!
2024 also brought opportunities for performance in cabarets and improv shows at WSU in the Directing Lab. I am Co-Artistic Director of the Jubilee Directing Lab, and I can’t wait to see it continue to flourish in 2025! I also got to work on some pretty cool short films!
I directed my second full-length play in the Wright State Jubilee Directing Lab: Good to See Ya!, written by Skye Hodgkin and Noel Nieczyporowicz.
Good to See Ya! is a new, one-act comedy written for the Directing Lab space. It is heartfelt, hilarious, and so very wacky!
Finally, I wrote my own 10-minute play in the spring of 2024! I had the opportunity to perform Kyleena® in the Jubilee Directing Lab at Wright State. I am so proud of this project and grateful to have had an artistic environment at WSU that pushed me to create it. If you’re interested, you can watch it here:
I am forever thankful to everyone I had the chance to collaborate and share the theatre space with this year. Here’s to all the art 2025 has in-store!
